Our Gold coast reef fishing charters can be a great adventure for any fisherman. Our half day reef fishing trips depart daily at 6am and11am.
Where We Fish on The Gold Coast
We like to fish over a reef or other structure. These reefs are usually teeming with small fish, which may not seem that attractive to the person fishing, but these small fish draw large species of fish to them at feeding time! This can mean a great catch for those who are directly above the reef at the right time of day.
Ship wrecks and rocky out crops have also proven to be great places for fish to hide from strong currents waiting for unsuspecting prey.
Take notice of any sea birds flying around. These birds like to prey on small bait fish, and often are a good indicators of where the fish are. While you may not be interested in the small fish, lurking below these fish are often larger pelagic species looking for an easy meal.
Bait
When it comes to bait for fishing gold coast reefs, live and dead baits are used depending on what species we are chasing.
Bait that is often used in out the deep ocean include Squid, Pilchards, Mullet and other cut strip baits.
Dead baits are ideal for targeting bottom dwellers like Snapper, Pearlies, Teraglin, Mulloway, Flathead and Tailor.
Common live baits include Yellowtail, Slimy Mackerel, and Pike, but other species such as small Trevally and even Sweep can be used when big Pelagic’s like Wahoo, Mackerel, Marlin and Cobia are hungry.
